The Riddle

So, I'm gonna just break it to you fast,  this post actually has nothing to do with riddles [mainly, because I know none]. Don't judge... But, "The Riddle" I'm referring to is by Five For Fighting. As I randomly started this son of a blog I had the idea to take the titles of my favorite songs and use them for my posts. At the end of each post I'll leave a link for you to listen to the song yourself. More than anything else I consider myself to be musical, which is obviously why this blog revolves so much around music. Music is my love. I wouldn't say I'm the best or that I'm even very good at it. But, it's such a huge part of my life. I can't remember a time when I wasn't involved in something for a choir or play or some sort of competition. However, it wasn't always that way. I used to hate music with a passion. But, when your mom teaches piano and voice lessons....yeah. I remember, all too well, those never ending sits with me, my mom, and the piano... Let's just say I was a terrible child. Mom was so patient, though, and eventually it paid off when I was about twelve and diagnosed with a blood disorder called, idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura. Try saying that ten times fast.... But, basically, it meant that I couldn't participate in anything that could possibly bump my head or any other necessary arteries. Otherwise, I'd probably bruise and internally bleed to death. This, for me, was devastating because this meant that I could no longer participate in sports and I was one of those little tomboys who played basketball alone and self-announced her own scores, "Setoki shoots! .... And she scores!!!" I had a big imagination and, as a kid, my biggest dream was to be a professional basketball star. But, when I heard the unfortunate news my dreams were shattered. At the time, I was actually home schooled, but the junior high would still allow me to join in on extra curricular activities. But, as the junior high basketball season started I sat at home insanely bored with my life. With nothing super active to do I took up writing stories, and it was a miracle if my mom would even let me walk outside... It was hard, but one day I approached the piano and took out one of my primer lesson books. It'd been a while since my mom had given me lessons (I want to say it'd been about 2-3 years). Busy with a total eight kids, though, she had probably given up on the prospect of me becoming a concert pianist. [No lie] I was a rather difficult child... I looked through the book, which happened to be all Christmas carols and picked my favorite song, "Silent Night". I racked my mind for the things mom had taught me and put them to use. Within a few minutes I had played through it, and within a few months I found myself flying through all levels of piano books and spending hour upon hour at the piano. One day, I sat down and decided I wanted to write my own music. It took time and effort, but as I persisted at it my own original music began to flow through my finger tips. I don't ever take full credit for my songs. I was once told by my mom that all good inspiration comes for God. I believe it with all my heart and as I've entrusted the talent of music composition to prayer I've miraculously progressed. To this day I have been participating in multiple art scholarships with my music and have obtained a grand total of $4,000 dollars. I love music and I love writing it. Music is something I know will be a part of my life forever. I love my mom for her patience. She is one amazing woman! I am so blessed, and as I start this blog I hope to make it a fun little record of my life goals and accomplishments and I owe it all to her. I love my mom :).
